Please tell me, what is the maximum allowed medium temperature of fiberglass pipes?
The maximum allowable medium temperature of FRP pipes is mainly determined by the matrix resin. For example, Ashland's vinyl resin DM411-350 has a heat deformation temperature of 105°C and a glass transition temperature (Tg2) of 120°C. The corresponding FRP pipes allow the maximum medium temperature to be 120°C for 30 minutes (emergency stop state). The flue gas pipe can use Ashland's vinyl resin DM470 series, which has a glass transition temperature (Tg2) of 165°C. The maximum allowable medium temperature of the fiberglass reinforced plastic pipe is 165°C. Phenolic resins are much higher, while polyester resin piping, which is commonly used, is much lower. The applicable temperature of commonly used polyester resin pipes is between -20°C and 80°C.
FRP should not exceed 120 degrees
