In urea production, there is a specified limit on the chloride ions (CI-) on the drum shell side, at around 0.2 to 0.5 ppm. Are there clear metrics in the process system?
The equipment and pipeline materials used in urea production are mostly stainless steel. Since chloride ions cause significant corrosion to stainless steel, urea production imposes strict requirements on the chloride (Cl-) content in steam, desalinated water, and circulating cooling water; the Cl- content in steam and desalinated water must be ≤0.5 ppm； The chloride CI- content in the circulating cooling water shall be ≤100 ppm.
In the CO2 stripping urea production process using the five-ring design, it is also required that the CI- content in steam and desalinated water be ≤0.5 ppm.
