Can HF equipment be designed and manufactured as atmospheric-pressure equipment? Is supervision and inspection required?
As long as the operating condition is at normal pressure. It’s just that the design and manufacturing requirements require the designer’s attention. There’s no need for supervision and inspection.
The material of equipment containing HF needs to be considered separately; it is essential to think carefully about what is the most suitable option. What I know is that 316 gets corroded completely in a very short time.
The equipment materials for HF media should be Monel. Is it a pressure vessel as classified by the pressure vessel regulations? ; It must simultaneously meet condition 1: the maximum operating pressure is greater than or equal to 0.1 MPa ; 2. The inner diameter is greater than or equal to 0.15 m, and the volume is greater than or equal to 0.025 cubic meters. 3. The medium is a gas, a liquefied gas, or a liquid whose maximum operating temperature is greater than or equal to its standard boiling point. If it is a pressure vessel, supervision and inspection are mandatory ; Atmospheric pressure containers are not necessary ; This post was last edited by GSLS on 2008-3-2 12:15.]
I’ve come across towers made of carbon steel, but the outlet pipelines at the top of the tower as well as the materials used for the condenser are made of Monel, as mentioned earlier
