Could you also talk about the main design institutes or engineering companies affiliated with CNPC and Sinopec, and what are their strengths?
CNPC Langfang Pipeline Design Institute, Daqing Design Institute, Northwest Pipeline Survey and Design Institute; SINOPEC Beijing Design Institute, SEI, Tianchen, Huanqiu, Dacheng, Ningbo Design Institute. I can’t remember them all; some of the names might also be incorrect. Could experts please provide a more detailed description?
Most of Sinopec’s engineering companies handle internal projects; the quality is pretty good, I guess
It’s Chengda, not Dacheng; there’s also Donghua, CNPC Northeast Company, and others

CNPC used to focus primarily on the upstream and midstream sectors, so its design institutes were dedicated to exploration tasks. Now it is working towards integrated development across all three sectors, having acquired numerous chemical engineering design institutes in order to better carry out its downstream operations, such as those handled by Huanqiu and Zhongfang Design Institute. Sinopec, on the other hand, has always been focused on the downstream refining and petrochemical industries; it has countless design institutes within its group, each specializing in different areas. The nine design institutes that were originally under the Ministry of Chemical Industry also had their own areas of specialization, with each institute having its own traditional projects.

CNODC is the Chinese National Offshore Oil Corporation’s subsidiary responsible for overseas oil and gas investment activities. It is part of CNPC. CPE China National Petroleum Group Engineering Design Co., Ltd. brings together numerous design institutes under CNPC; the most prominent among them are the former Sichuan Petroleum Administration Design Institute and Jihua Design Institute (which has now separated from CPE to form its own engineering company).
Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Company was established by the former Lanzhou Design Institute and Ningbo Chemical Construction. Holding one’s breath, sharp eyesight, and heavy fertilizers are its strengths.
