One argument is that the hydrochloric acid production plants themselves also need fuel; rather than supplying it to other factories as a raw material, it’s better to use it internally as fuel, thereby avoiding the need for gas – which is currently quite expensive. If it is a by-product of own production, using it as fuel is the most economical option. Delivering hydrogen is relatively dangerous, the price is low, and purchasing raw materials externally also poses environmental pollution issues.
It’s a shame to burn off hydrogen; a organic hydrogenation unit can be used, hydrogen is also employed for the purification of precious metals, and there are other products that utilize hydrogen as well. Comprehensive utilization is more reasonable than using it as fuel.
Generally, a company doesn’t have that many hydrogen production facilities. When it comes to delivering hydrogen, price is a key factor; currently, fuel prices are high while hydrogen prices remain stable, so it’s usually used as fuel for boilers. This is more economical than selling it.
