The methanol projects that came online in 2007 include: the first phase of Inner Mongolia Boyuan United Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 1 million tons per year methanol production project from natural gas, with a capacity of 400,000 tons per year; the second phase of the same project, also operated by Inner Mongolia Boyuan United Chemical Co., Ltd., with a capacity of 600,000 tons per year; Inner Mongolia Qinghua Group’s methanol production project with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons, which was completed and put into operation; Zhangping Fertilizer Co., Ltd.’s methanol production project with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons; and Inner Mongolia Newao’s 600,000 tons per year methanol production facility. Hualu Hengsheng has an annual methanol production capacity of 200,000 tons; it began operations at the beginning of 2007. The Qinghua Group in Inner Mongolia’s project with an annual methanol production capacity of 200,000 tons was completed and put into operation on September 28, 2007, with a total investment of 245.9 million yuan. The Shenhua Ningmei Group’s project with an annual methanol production capacity of 250,000 tons had its foundation laid on September 28, 2004, and construction officially started on March 9, 2005; the estimated investment for this project was 1.368 billion yuan. On June 21, 2007, the gasification process was successful on the first attempt, and qualified products were produced in early August. The first phase of the methanol production project at Xuyang Coking Group’s Dingzhou Tianlu New Energy Co., Ltd. began construction on August 12, 2006; its nominal capacity was 100,000 tons per year, with a total investment of 247 million yuan. The project came online on October 31, 2007. Kintop Chemical’s 450,000-ton methanol production project in Chongqing went into operation in the fourth quarter of 2007, but it had to operate intermittently due to unstable natural gas supply. Methanol projects set to come online in 2008: Yankuang Yulin Energy Chemical’s first phase of 2.3 million tons of methanol production, with an output of 600,000 tons； Shaanxi Shenmu Chemical’s second phase project involves 600,000 tons of methanol, of which 400,000 tons are produced.
