It is generally required that the water content in chlorine be below 0.01%, and efficient defoaming devices are also necessary
If the chlorine gas processed by the turbine contains a high level of moisture, liquid water will be formed after the gas is compressed and cooled (for the same reason why air compressors need to have water drained), which leads to increased acid corrosion of the equipment. The corrosion, coupled with the production of hydrogen, can result in a decline in product quality or other safety issues. Large turbines require the moisture content to be below 0.005%, while smaller turbines only need it to be below 0.03%. The above figures may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer of the equipment.
