Domestic water-coal slurry gasification technology is now ready for large-scale application. Reporters learned from a seminar on the promotion and application of multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology held from May 11 to 12 that the large-scale multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology, developed through collaboration between East China University of Science and Technology and Shandong Dangkuang Group Co., Ltd. and featuring independent intellectual property rights in China, has proven to be mature after undergoing six long-duration continuous operations at Shandong Yankuang Group Chemical Co., Ltd. over the past two years; it is thus fully ready for large-scale market deployment. Coal gasification is the key technology for the modern utilization of coal in China. On July 21, 2005, the industrial demonstration unit for the multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology, as well as the associated facilities, which were part of the major ’10th Five-Year Plan’ 863 project undertaken jointly by Yankuang Group Co., Ltd. and East China University of Science and Technology, was successfully commissioned at Xiankuang Guofeng Chemical Co., Ltd. The entire production process was operational from the very first attempt, enabling industrialization; the plant reached full capacity in the same year it was put into operation. Industrial operations over the past two years have shown that this technology boasts excellent performance and advanced process parameters. Compared with similar foreign technologies, it features flexible operation, superior technical and economic indicators, and is particularly suitable for large-scale gasification units handling more than a thousand tons of coal per day. Features such as a reasonable investment scale, appropriate interest setting, and low licensing fees. On January 8, 2006, it passed the expert evaluation organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association and was awarded the Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress by this association. The successful operation of the demonstration unit has laid the foundation for the application of independent large-scale coal gasification technology in our country; companies such as Shandong Jizhou Phoenix Fertilizer Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Linggu Chemical Co., Ltd. have adopted this technology.
