After the methanol synthesis catalyst is loaded, it is essential to perform the removal of catalyst powder. The process should be as follows: after the methanol synthesis catalyst is loaded, the internal components must be sealed as required. Once all equipment and pipes in the system (except for the flange at the outlet of the synthesis tower) have been installed, pressure should be applied gradually along the flow path (up to 2 MPa). The gas flow rate should be controlled using the inlet valve of the synthesis tower in order to blow the catalyst powder out from behind the tower intermittently, until it is completely removed. Then, the outlet flange is installed, followed by purging, pressure testing, and catalyst heating for reduction.
Most of those in use today are turbine-based syngas compressors; is it necessary to start the compressor for the purging process, or should another gas source be used?
