I would like to ask whether the level of the acid return liquid in the dry absorption unit for sulfuric acid production must be higher than the height of the anti-vortex sulfur unit?
In the self-feeding tank, the liquid level should be below the anti-vortex sulfur device.
Generally, the outer surface of the vortex prevention device is covered with an alloy mesh, which reduces its flow area; in my opinion, during normal operation the liquid level inside the tower is higher than that of the vortex prevention device. Additionally, an estimation should also be made based on the amount of acid in the upper tower of your company’s facility and the flow area on the surface of the anti-vortex device. It’s best to do a flow test before driving; just take a look and you’ll know. But be careful.
Why must the acid return level in the dry absorption tower be higher than that of the anti-vortex device? In large-scale installations with a capacity of over 400,000 tons, in order to reduce the volume of the acid circulation tank, some of the circulating acid can be stored in the dry absorption tower.

The vortex prevention device is made of 316L material, which is not resistant to dilute sulfuric acid; only when it is not exposed to concentrated sulfuric acid can the service life of the vortex prevention device be ensured. That’s my opinion – are there any different views?
