Compatibility with CAD2008

I recently installed 2008; after creating diagrams, I’m unable to open them – only 2008 can be used to open them. Why is the compatibility so poor?
Regarding software compatibility, the principle of backward compatibility has always been followed; it is simply impossible for CAD2000 to open CAD2008 files (the format of CAD2008 couldn’t be known at the time CAD2000 was released). Therefore, it is usually the case that newer versions of software can open files created in earlier versions. If it is desired for CAD2008 files to be openable by older versions of CAD, this can also be achieved by saving the files in a format suitable for an earlier version, such as 2000. This way, compatibility across different versions can be achieved.
