The production cost of methanol from coal is 800–900 yuan; when management costs, energy consumption, depreciation, and other expenses are added in, the total cost comes to around 1,500 yuan!

The cost for coke oven gas should be below 1000; it constitutes an environmentally friendly project, so tax incentives are likely available. The cost of operating a coal-based facility is around 1000–1150, and when other costs are added, the total cost comes to approximately 1500. Given the current price of natural gas, the cost is probably around 2000

Methanol produced from coal is around 1500 per ton

Formula for estimating the cost of producing methanol from natural gas: Cost of methanol plant = Unit price of natural gas * 1000 + 300. For example, if the unit price of natural gas is 1.00 yuan, the cost of the methanol plant is 1300 yuan. Additionally, it is necessary to consider whether a captive power plant is used for electricity generation; in cases where such a plant is available, an additional 300–400 cubic meters of natural gas are consumed per ton of methanol produced. When natural gas is cheap, methanol production plants use captive power plants, and the captive power plants at the Tuha Oil Field’s methanol plants were expanded later to reduce costs.

Based on a cost of 350 yuan per ton of raw coal, the production cost per ton of methanol produced from coal is approximately 1350 yuan. I wonder what others think?

It is difficult to calculate the cost of producing methanol from acetylene off-gases. Acetylene off-gases are by-products of natural gas processing for acetylene production; in plants that produce acetylene solely, their cost is already included in the cost of acetylene itself. In other words, acetylene off-gases can be considered waste with no value at all. However, in plants equipped with methanol production facilities, these off-gases represent a way to reduce the costs associated with acetylene. As is known, acetylene off-gases have no real market, and therefore no market price. The price of acetylene off-gases is usually determined as follows: if producing one ton of methanol requires 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas and 2,500 cubic meters of acetylene off-gases, then 2,500 times the price of acetylene off-gases equals 1,000 times the price of natural gas. Since natural gas has a market price, this allows for the determination of the price of acetylene off-gases. As a result, their price does not change frequently based on factors such as natural gas prices; it changes only once every six months or a year, in a stepwise manner. Under such circumstances, it is impossible to compare the costs of producing methanol using acetylene off-gases versus natural gas, nor can specific figures be used to determine which method is cheaper. The maximum level of crude alcohol is around 1500, I guess. For fine alcohol, an additional cost of 200–300 is required.
