The acid value includes both organic and inorganic acids; since biodiesel is produced through acid catalysis, it is not surprising that the acid value is high
There are two ways to address high acid values: one is to carry out alkaline washing, using a diluted sodium hydroxide solution for cleaning. This method results in significant losses for oils with high acid values, and there is also the problem of difficult-to-handle alkaline residues； Secondly, hydrogenation treatment can reduce the acid value to very low levels, but the processing cost is high. The specific method to be adopted should be determined based on the cost analysis of various methods and the local environmental protection requirements.
