The reduction workshop at my company uses hydrogen to reduce nitrocompounds. The specific nitrocompound in question is 2-nitro-4-acetamidophenyl ether. This substance has a high viscosity in its wet state. Our company employs both vertical and horizontal agitators for feeding; the agitators are equipped with uniform blades that are of equal thickness at both ends. To ensure that it does not affect the feeding area at the opening of the conical feed bin, the vertical agitator is driven by a motor reducer connected via a belt to the outer wall of the feed bin, while the horizontal agitator is driven by a coupling. However, when feeding this nitrocompound into the reaction tank, we often encounter problems where the compound gets stuck inside the feed bin. After investigating, I found that the issue mainly lies with the vertical agitator – its power is not sufficient. Additionally, any material that accumulates outside the range of the agitator blades does not fall to the bottom of the feed bin; instead, it forms a cylindrical space within and outside that range of blades. I have also tried using conical agitators (similar to those found in double-cone mixing bins) that can move in two directions (both rotating on their own axis and moving in circular motion around an axis), but the results were not satisfactory either.
