Our company installed a new boiler this year. The hydraulic testing, heating-up, and boiling tests all proceeded normally, but problems arose after the boiler had been in operation for a month, with air leaking from the superheating section. Subsequent inspections after shutting down the furnace revealed that the elbows of the superheater coils had burst, and upon closer inspection, these elbows were narrower than the straight sections of the tubes. Subsequent testing and analysis showed that there was no issue with the material of the pipe; the cracks arose due to the use of an inappropriate mandrel during the bending process, which caused damage to the crystal structure of the elbow. It is hoped that all boiler manufacturers will take this as a warning, pay attention to such issues during the manufacturing process, and ensure strict quality control. Furthermore, as the construction party, one must be thorough when receiving and inspecting the goods.
