Shanxi Jinfeng Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. is a coal chemical enterprise established through joint investment by Shanxi Jincheng Anthracite Coal Industry Group Co., Ltd. and Shanxi Fengxi Fertilizer (Group) Co., Ltd. It was registered on July 28, 2003, with a registered capital of 450 million yuan. It has two branch companies in Gaoping and Wenxi, and currently employs over 2,800 staff members. Its main activities involve the production and operation of fertilizers such as urea and methanol, as well as other chemical products. In 2006, it ranked 11th in China’s nitrogen fertilizer industry in terms of ammonia production and 11th in terms of urea production. The establishment of Jinfeng Company is an objective necessity resulting from the strong alliance between the two major enterprise groups, Jinmei and Fengxi, as they combine their strengths to actively compete on the international stage. It represents a natural outcome of the optimal allocation of resources driven by market forces. It is also a successful example of cooperation between state-owned and private economic systems to create enterprises with mixed ownership structures. Furthermore, it serves as a key enterprise in the construction of a 6-million-ton high-concentration nitrogen fertilizer production base in Jincheng City, as outlined in the strategic decisions put forward by the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government to develop new energy and industrial bases and transform Shanxi from a province primarily focused on coal production into a province that also excels in coal chemical industry. It is part of the joint efforts by Jinmei Group and Fengxi Group to build one of the most competitive coal chemical enterprise groups in China and even around the world. This initiative holds great practical and far-reaching significance for Shanxi Province in accelerating the adjustment of its industrial structure and achieving further economic growth. Adhering to a development approach that emphasizes high standards and modernization, Jinfeng Company follows the construction philosophy of being resource-efficient, environment-friendly, safe and stable, as well as harmonious in terms of human elements. By making full use of the resources, capital, technology, and management strengths of both shareholders, the company has invested a total of 2 billion yuan to build the Gaoping 3652 project in Gaoping City and Wenxi County in Shanxi Province – a project that covers an area of 500 mu and has an annual production capacity of 360,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 520,000 tons of urea, with 60,000 tons of methanol produced as a by-product – as well as the Wenxi 2430 project, which covers an area of 300 mu and has an annual production capacity of 240,000 tons of ammonia and 300,000 tons of urea, with 40,000 tons of methanol produced as a by-product. Both projects utilize mature technologies such as fixed-bed white coal gasification, dual-methane ammonia synthesis, and carbon dioxide stripping for urea production. The main production processes are controlled by DCS computer systems; these technologies are proven to be effective, advanced, and the equipment used is of top quality. Once the Wenxi 2430 project and the Gaoping 3652 project are fully completed and brought into operation, they will have an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, 1.1 million tons of urea, 150,000 tons of methanol, and 2,000 tons of sulfur. This will generate annual sales revenue of 1.5 billion yuan and annual profits and taxes of 300 million yuan, making them a key force in China’s fertilizer and chemical industry. “During the 11th Five-Year Plan period, Jinfeng Company will adhere to a long-term strategic development approach centered on \"fertilizers as the core, combining fertilizer production with chemical manufacturing, focusing on refined processing, pursuing diversified development, emphasizing environmental protection, and promoting energy efficiency through recycling.\" With a total investment of 2 billion yuan, the company will focus on planning and developing projects such as 40,000 tons of polyoxymethylene production, 200,000 tons of acetic acid production, And coal chemical-related mining operations on a scale of one million tons. Upon the completion of all planned projects, an output value of 3 billion yuan will be achieved, along with tax revenues of 600 million yuan, thereby making a positive contribution to the development of Shanxi’s coal chemical industry base and the growth of the local economy.
They exaggerate way too much; do companies really have to exaggerate these days?
Different views on Jinfeng: 1. How can the fixed-bed white coal gasification process be considered to have a \"high starting point, high standards, and modernity\"? 2. To build a urea production capacity of 1.2 million tons per year in one go, with all processes relying on fixed-bed batch gasification, this calls into question the decision-making of the leadership. 3. Shanxi has long suffered from water shortages, and its coal resources are not inexhaustible. Coupled with frequent mining accidents and worsening geological subsidence, I am not optimistic about the coal chemical industry in Shanxi. Even when developing coal chemical industries, it is necessary to start from a high standard, and we must not repeat the old approach of developing first and then dealing with the consequences. 4. “A total investment of 2 billion yuan, with focus on developing projects such as 40,000 tons of polyoxymethylene, 200,000 tons of acetic acid, and coal chemical plants accompanied by mining facilities” – is that a joke? The investment required just for producing 200,000 tons of acetic acid per year is already over 1.2 billion yuan. 5. I agree with the engineer on the third floor. For water-scarce areas, it is indeed a headache to develop 10,000-ton-class chemical projects due to water issues.
