I have a question: does anyone know the required installation height for the inlet branch pipe of a safety valve? Thank you! !
Long-radius elbows should be used for the inlet pipeline of the safety valve. Safety valves installed on equipment or pipelines should generally be mounted vertically. However, for safety valves located in liquid pipelines, heat exchangers, containers, etc., where pressure may rise due to thermal expansion after the valve is closed, they can be mounted horizontally. The safety valve should be installed as close as possible to the equipment or pipeline it is meant to protect. If an installation at close range is not possible, the pressure drop in the pipeline between the outlet of the equipment being protected and the inlet of the safety valve must not exceed 3% of the valve’s set pressure value.
Safety valves should be installed vertically, close to the equipment’s pipe outlets or on the equipment’s pipes. Those whose outlet leads directly to the atmosphere must be placed at a height of more than 2 meters above the platform or ground surface and in a safe direction. Valves are not allowed to be installed at the inlet; instead, flange or threaded connections should be used.
