The 2008 Beijing Olympics are approaching – what can we do to improve China’s environment?
It shouldn’t be the Olympics; we should do something for environmental protection ! Rather, China should teach people from an early age in elementary school to cherish the environment, to avoid wasting resources, to not scribble on surfaces, and to not spit carelessly. What we do are all small things; what’s truly important are the policies and guidelines, as well as the planning for factories and so on
To prepare for the Olympics, **a lot of attention has been paid to environmental protection in recent years, out of concern for what might happen after the Olympics. . . . .
Is it to improve the current poor conditions for the sake of an Olympic Games? The Olympics are merely a catalyst that accelerates people’s awareness of the environment. It is hoped that after the Olympics, the concept of environmental protection will truly take root in people’s hearts, prompting them to take action consciously, starting with small things and from themselves, so as to fulfill the responsibilities that every citizen ought to have!
That’s the current situation; in order to welcome some event or on a certain promotional day, there’s a lot of hype； A few days later, it returned to its original state. We still urge that we carry environmental protection through to the end”
