Now, saving energy and reducing consumption is no longer just a slogan; especially with the recent surge in energy prices, led by oil. It is estimated that almost all factories are focusing on ways to save energy and reduce costs in order to ensure corporate profits. I would like to ask everyone here a question that seems quite basic, but isn’t easy to answer once you try to figure it out: What parameters do you use to indicate your factory’s efficiency in utilizing various types of energy? It might be relatively easy to define an efficiency for a single device; for example, in the case of a gas-fired heater, the efficiency of the heater is often used, and more specifically, parameters such as the overall thermal efficiency are employed. But how can we represent the overall energy utilization efficiency of an entire factory or even an enterprise? Our company has adopted Solomon’s EII (energy intensity index) as a parameter to measure the energy efficiency of the entire factory. However, since no money was spent on purchasing Solomon’s calculation software, this parameter was calculated by ourselves based on their calculation methods. The results obtained are often confusing. I was wondering if anyone has a better or more concise way of expressing the overall energy utilization rate of a plant using parameters?
