The COD level in the wastewater from our factory has always been high; I’m wondering if there are any better methods for its degradation!
OP, I think it first depends on what type of wastewater it is, what the COD level is, and whether it consists mainly of large organic molecules or small organic molecules. If organic macromolecules are the main component, considering the use of flocculants combined with co-flocculants is a good option; it is the preferred approach as it is the cheapest, and the removal rate can exceed 80%! If organic small molecules are the main component, aerobic or anaerobic treatment processes can be selected depending on the concentration level ; If it is a substance that is difficult to degrade, it is necessary to first use strong oxidants for oxidation before proceeding with biochemical treatment. Also, if it contains heavy metals, pretreatment must be carried out. That’s roughly it; if your wastewater is quite special, then a plan needs to be developed based on the properties of that wastewater.
