I have made a simple classification of industrial pipes and discussed it with my friends; please point out any inaccuracies. Industrial pipes are classified according to their design pressure as follows: Pipe category Design pressure in kg/cm² Vacuum pipes Design pressure less than standard atmospheric pressure Low-pressure pipes 0 < P < 16 Medium-pressure pipes 1: 16 < P < 40; 2: 40 < P < 100 High-pressure pipes 100 < P < 350 According to the “Regulations for the Maintenance and Inspection of Industrial Pipes,” industrial pipes are divided into 5 categories based on factors such as pressure, temperature, medium, and material: Pipe material – Carbon steel, Alloy steel Working temperature in °C – 370, 370, 450, 40–450 Category I: Pw ≥ 320; Category II: Pw ≥ 100; Category III: Any value of Pw ≥ 100; Category IV: 100 ≤ Pw < 320; 40 ≤ Pw < 100; 40 ≤ Pw < 100; Category V: 16 ≤ Pw < 40; 16 ≤ Pw < 40; Pw < 16
