Sinopec Holds Seminar on the Rectification of China’s Largest Air Separation Unit On December 6, a seminar on the rectification of China’s largest air separation unit was held at the Shuanghuan Hotel of Anqing Petrochemical, organized by the Materials and Equipment Department and the Chemicals Business Unit of Sinopec Corporation, with the support of Sinopec’s Anqing Branch. The coal substitution unit for fertilizers and oils at Anqing Petrochemical has achieved the remarkable result of operating for a long period of 63 days, being the first among the three similar units built with Sinopec’s investment. A long-term maintenance period is currently in progress. Its accompanying 48,000 cubic meters per hour air separation unit is the largest domestic air separation unit to be upgraded, and it was the first of its kind to undergo such modifications. Since the start of the reform work on this air separation unit, Anqing Petrochemical has organized everything carefully, working closely with the equipment manufacturers, the contractors responsible for the reforms, and various other parties. It has addressed nearly a hundred issues, continuously setting new records for the efficiency of such repairs and improvements. To ensure the smooth progress of the renovation work on China’s first domestically produced large-scale air separation unit, to strengthen monitoring and coordination during the renovation process, to further optimize the plans, and to accumulate experience for the future maintenance and renovation of other such domestic large-scale air separation units, Sinopec organized this coordination and discussion session. Experts and engineering technicians from relevant units such as Sinopec’s Chemicals Division, Materials and Equipment Department, and Engineering Department, Anqing Petrochemical, Hubei Fertilizer Branch, Hangyang Co., Ltd., and Ningbo Engineering Company participated in the discussion. The participants carefully examined the renovation plan for Hangzhou Oxygen, the overall progress of the improvement projects for the air separation unit at Anqing Petrochemical, as well as the existing problems. Based on the on-site construction situation, they formulated corresponding countermeasures and outlined the next steps for work. This seminar has played a positive role in promoting the use of domestically produced large-scale air separation units.
