Let’s come up with an English name for the forum

What do you think of naming it Chem SA forum? SA, namely Sea Acceptance, is the Haina Baichuan Chemical Forum.

I don’t think it’s necessary to come up with a special English name; we can simply use Haichuan’s pinyin: Haichuan BBS. Using pinyin not only gives it a Chinese flavor but also makes it easier to remember! I think it can be called “Haichuan Feifei”; in English, it would be HAICHUAN Foreign Language Forum. Simply call it Haichuan FF: Loveliness:

"To Sea BBS” means “everything returns to the sea”, which is a homophone for To See BBS.

I think what was said on the 4th floor is great – it’s easy to remember and has Chinese characteristics.

To be honest, English isn’t our strength; it’s just for convenience – the name should be simple and easy to remember! No matter how good our English forum is, can it compete with professional ones? It’s right that we keep focusing on chemical engineering English!

I think using Haisuan Pinyin will suffice. Haisuan is a technical exchange forum; although it is very active and inclusive, with many professionals attending, including those specializing in English, I believe it’s better not to go overboard with decorations. Especially the members of this forum are probably all Chinese people; why use foreign names? Aren’t Chinese names good enough? Still, we need to support our colleagues who offer suggestions for the forum.

The day before yesterday, after a friend told me that the Haichuan Chemicals Forum was very popular, I rushed to register for it. I scrolled through the homepage from top to bottom but couldn’t find any section related to English; it was only later that I heard it was called the “Interpretation Club” that I finally found it. It turns out that over a year ago, when I was looking for information online, I visited “Haichuan.” At that time I came across some material on control valves, which was explained in great detail; I saved that webpage, but I didn’t go to the English section. Because the other sections on the homepage are in Chinese, if our section is named something like “English Forum,” new users will be able to find it easily. I used to think that \"interpretation\" referred mainly to oral translation, and that the person who does oral translation is called an \"interpreter\" ； Translation focuses on written translation, and the person who does written translation is called a translator. I also took a quick look at this forum yesterday; it’s mostly about discussions related to translation. Therefore, using the name “Interpretation Club” isn’t quite appropriate, as it could be misleading. If there is interpretation, translation, etc., why not break it down into a few smaller sub-blocks? Perhaps I am ignorant and do not have a precise understanding of interpretation.

What was said upstairs makes sense indeed. As the Beach City Watcher said, if one thinks it’s not appropriate, they can bring it up in the forum’s discussion area for everyone to talk about it. But I wonder whether the choice of names took into account the need for mutual communication among everyone as well I think using \"interpretation\" rather than \"translation\" better reflects the mutual exchange and communication among people.
