Major coal chemical projects in Guizhou

In Guizhou’s coal chemical industry, in addition to the Xingyi Yihua plant that has already been completed, there is currently Guizhou Tianfu Chemical Co., Ltd. under construction, as well as Jinchiji Company for which EPC bidding is underway. Tianfu Chemical uses Shell’s gasification technology, while Jinchiji employs GE’s coal slurry gasification technology
Isn’t there any other project at another company? It seems there’s more than that, right?
The synthetic ammonia project invested in Guizhou by Yankuang is also under construction
The planning is good, but there isn’t much in practice
The Liupanshui project was proposed early due to environmental concerns, but it has yet to receive approval. As for the Kaiyang Yankuang project, nothing significant has happened there since it was set up; they want to use Shell’s technology – but it’s not clear whether this is due to approval issues or because Yankuang wants to secure control over that area
Yankuang has already signed a contract with Colin; it seems they never intended to use Shell from the start
Yankuang’s project was originally intended to be carried out in partnership with Sinochem Phosphorus, to supply synthetic ammonia to the latter, but it fell through due to issues related to interests. So Yankuang suspended its coal chemical projects while continuing to operate its coal mines. Sinochem Kailin has set up its own ammonia synthesis plant, with commissioning planned for this year; I went to the site.
Let me introduce the Kaiyang Energy Chemical Project carried out by Yankuang in Guizhou. I met the head of this project’s department a few days ago; the technology used is a dry coal powder water-cooled wall gasification furnace. A pilot test of this technology was conducted for this project, and it passed a 72-hour test just before the New Year. It is a project supported by the 863 Program, and once the pilot testing is complete, construction will begin in Guizhou. A few days ago, I met the head of the Kaiyang Energy Chemicals project team at Tianchen Design Institute. Chief Engineer Zhang Honglin from the coal chemical industry and Professor Gong from East China University of Science and Technology were also there; it was related to this project. It seems that construction will start soon – let’s wait and see. Wish the project every success.
What was said upstairs makes sense, as many of Yankuang’s projects use our catalysts. We have met Zhang Honglin, but regarding the projects in Guizhou, we heard people talking about it on site; I personally think those projects might fail, and even if they do get started, it will be several years before that happens. Actually, we hope the Yankuang project progresses smoothly, and we can cooperate more.
In Guizhou, the demand for coal exceeds the supply, so coal chemical projects do not receive much attention.
