Currently, I am observing a construction company carrying out work on fire protection underground pipes (galvanized pipes), using the following connection method: oilcloth combined with tape and pipe clamps. What should be done if there is a leak in this type of connection during pressure testing or subsequent use? Are there any other good connection methods? Does anyone know? Could you tell me? For underground pipes, welding is recommended; the connection method mentioned by the original poster works as well too. Generally, if leakage occurs, the pipes have to be disassembled and repaired, but this is only possible if detachable flanges or couplings are installed on the pipes.
Both direct welding and flange connection can be used, but the flange connection is too costly. Tube clamp connections also work, but using tape does not yield good results; it is better to use hemp rope and hemp fibers instead. :loveliness:
If it is laid in an underground trench, any method can be used. Pipeline leaks should be permitted according to the regulations, provided that they do not exceed a certain level; otherwise, repairs and inspections are required. If it is to be buried directly, careful consideration is needed
If the pipe diameter is not large, threaded connection can be considered
Generally, underground fire protection water pipes have a diameter larger than DN100. If the diameter is over 100 and galvanized pipes are to be used, hot-dip galvanizing is typically employed, that is, pipes that are galvanized twice. However, as underground pipelines, carbon steel pipes with anti-corrosion treatment are still the most commonly used.
Fire protection pipes are under high pressure, so welding connections are a safer option. The welds should then be treated to prevent corrosion.:o
