What is this substance?

Hello everyone, the new 50,000-ton propylene oxide production facility in our company started operations some time ago. We use the chlorination method, with water, chlorine gas, and propylene as raw materials. The reactor used is a tubular reactor. During the trial production phase, black substances formed in many of the pipelines before and after the reactor; some of us think this is acid sludge. Does anyone know what this substance is? I’d like to thank you here first.
Is it a carbonization product of propylene? ? In other words, carbon has been produced
Is it possible that the system hasn’t been cleaned properly, with rust and other debris attached to the pipes?
What was used for saponification? Lime? Calcium carbide slag?
