Recently, during the preliminary stages of a project, I encountered many aspects that I am not familiar with. I am urgently in need of the help of professionals who have experience in aromatic hydrocarbon projects. I would appreciate it if you could provide information on the costs associated with the design of processes such as distillation, hydrogenation, reforming, aromatic extraction, isomerization, and disproportionation – at least an approximate figure will do. Hehe, these are all things that should be considered confidential. I have previous experience in the aromatic chemicals industry. I’ll give you a general overview; please don’t blame me if I don’t cover everything. Based on my experience, for aromatic hydrocarbon plants with a capacity of 1 to 1.2 million tons, the patent licensing fees for various units are generally included in the basic design costs. Because patent holders usually carry out the basic design of the unit for you, and then assign the task to domestic designers to handle the detailed design. The following patent licensing fees are calculated at 1$ = 8.2 RMB: Aromatic hydrocarbon extraction costs approximately 9 million RMB, while the disproportionation unit costs around 7 million RMB. Reforming, isomerization, and hydrogenation are all around 8 million. Generally, the licensing fees for reforming, isomerization, and hydrogenation from UOP, along with the basic design costs, amount to around 120 million. Most of these agreements should include catalyst supply agreements. Because the basic design firm carries out the calculations for the entire process based on the performance of the catalyst. A lot of money is also spent on catalysts; if PX is produced, the cost of catalysts is approximately twice the total cost of licensing and design, while if no PX is produced, the two costs are roughly equal. It mainly includes patent fees, process package fees, and technical service fees. The first two items are calculated separately, as for some projects it is not necessary to purchase a process package; a patent license is sufficient. The total cost is closely related to the scale of the plant; generally, it is $1 per ton of feed.
