Is it appropriate to use ductile iron pipes for coastal underground fire protection networks?

I once worked on a project during construction where the underground fire protection piping system used ductile iron pipes, probably because they are more resistant to seawater corrosion given that the site is located near the sea. What gave me the most trouble, however, was the pressure testing process after the piping was installed; this was due to the fact that these pipes are connected using socket fittings. Our test pressure was 1.8 MPa, and it’s easy to imagine what consequences such high pressure can have on socket fittings, even though we reinforced the connections with cement plugs. What I want to ask is, is it appropriate to use ductile iron pipes in this situation? :(

I’ve encountered this problem as well: the client insists on using ductile iron, and during pressure testing, it tends to come loose at the elbow sections. The manufacturer can be asked to provide anti-loosening washers.
