Corrosion-resistant pumps are a type of pump widely used in industrial production. They are primarily used in various sectors of the national economy, such as petroleum, chemicals, fertilizers, chemical fibers, electricity, metallurgy, papermaking, mining, light textiles, sugar production, food processing, and environmental protection. According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, China’s imports of pumps account for about 16% of the total market demand, with 85% of those being corrosion-resistant pumps. According to data from the **Statistics Bureau, the market size for chemical-resistant pumps in China is around 4.5 billion yuan, with a total demand for such pumps of approximately 300,000 units, accounting for about 7% of the total market volume. At present, about 65% of the production and operation of corrosion-resistant pumps in our country is concentrated among the 160 member companies of the China General Pump Association. However, none of them achieve the requirements for economies of scale. Among enterprises that manufacture corrosion-resistant pumps, only companies such as Shijiazhuang Water Pump Factory, Dalian Acid-Resistant Pump Factory, Chongqing Water Pump Factory, Hangzhou Alkali Pump Factory, Hubei 525 Factory, and Shenyang Water Pump Factory possess the necessary expertise and production capacity on a large scale. The remaining manufacturers lack such specialized skills and are still limited to producing pumps in small quantities to meet immediate market demands. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a thorough analysis of the current situation of domestic chemical pump manufacturers in order to find a viable path for the scaled development of corrosion-resistant pumps. The demand for corrosion-resistant pumps in our country is primarily concentrated in the energy sector, the three major chemical industries, the petroleum industry, and mining and extraction. In the 1960s, our country jointly designed the F-type corrosion-resistant pump and the Y-type oil pump. Starting from the 1980s, major domestic manufacturers such as Shen Pump, Danai, and Shang Pump began to adopt advanced foreign technologies; after digesting and adapting them, their products were gradually introduced to the market. All these joint ventures and technology introductions, with the exception of Danai, Shipump, and Shanghai KSB, have largely failed to achieve significant market influence. Among users of chemical-resistant pumps, they share information with one another and are increasingly focusing on brand reputation and specialized advantages; for example, in phosphorus-ammonia projects, Danai is the preferred choice ; When it comes to corrosion resistance, Hubei 525 comes to mind immediately ; In the sugar-coated chlorine-alkali industry, Hangzhou Alkali Pump Factory is recognized as the leading company ; If a slurry pump for handling impurities is needed, Shijiazhuang is of course the top choice ; If extracting ethyl furfuroic acid hydrofluoric acid, a plastic pump or ceramic pump must be used ; For high-viscosity slurry media, customers turn to Tianjin Industrial Pumps. There is still a significant gap between domestic corrosion-resistant pumps and advanced foreign technologies, and they fall short of the expectations of domestic users. Looking at the national market for corrosion-resistant pumps, in recent years, due to the increasing use of imported pumps, production growth has slowed down. The overall market situation is highly unbalanced, with declining profit levels and an increase in losses, resulting in poor overall economic efficiency. Especially since the introduction of the market economy, township enterprises and individual businesses have developed rapidly. Even many small factories that do not possess the capacity to produce chemical pumps have recklessly rushed into manufacturing corrosion-resistant pumps, resulting in an oversupply of low-quality chemical pumps. This has led to price competition among these manufacturers, increased costs associated with product sales from year to year, higher production costs, reduced profits for enterprises, and severe economic losses. Some enterprises adopt a shareholding system, form group companies, merge with and partner with other businesses to expand their scale and increase their workforce, which leads to high investments in assets and labor. Yet at the same time, they overlook technological progress! China’s specialized manufacturers of chemical pumps have not yet established a true brand advantage, lack strong market influence, and are unable to withstand the challenges of the market. In today’s market competition, it is actually a competition among brands, quality, price, service, and reputation.
