Since the sulfur inevitably contains some particulate impurities, etc., after a long period of operation, a lot of impurities have accumulated at the bottom of the sulfur melting tank, which puts great pressure on the filters, sulfur guns, etc. behind. Big, is it possible to remove the sulfur at the bottom of the molten sulfur tank as much as possible? Of course it is difficult to remove it very clean. Then turn off the steam. After the sulfur solidifies again, people go in and use hammers, shovels, etc. to remove the solid sulfur and clean it up. I just think this is too troublesome. If there is a better cleaning method, please discuss it.
Our company underwent an overhaul and cleaning in August this year (it has been in operation for three years, with a molten sulfur capacity of 19t/h). The molten sulfur tank and the large refined sulfur tank were cleaned. The sulfur at the bottom of the molten sulfur tank was removed as much as possible, and the manhole at the lowest part of the large refined sulfur tank was opened. Several tons of sulfur overflowed (it could not overflow into the ground trench). The steam was turned off. After the sulfur solidified, people went in and used hammers, iron drills, shovels, etc. to remove the solid sulfur. The environment was so bad that it took 10 days to clean up. The large refined sulfur tank has been used for three years and has 30 centimeters of slag (dark brown) at the bottom. The diameter of the large tank is 20 meters. The reason for cleaning is that the pipe from the large tank overflowing into the sulfur pump ground tank is often blocked. Currently, this is the only way to clean it up.
It is recommended to refer to the structure of our factory and remove the slag from the bottom. Use a pole to detect the thickness of the slag, release the liquid sulfur from the drain port, open the bottom door, and scoop it out while it is hot. Rectangular ground troughs can also be designed with this structure.
