Many heating furnaces these days use fiber-sprayed linings; after prolonged use, they appear to form a single unit, but upon closer inspection, severe powdering occurs. After several years of use, a problem related to the service life arises, yet there are no clear guidelines regarding this. I would appreciate everyone’s insights on this matter
In my opinion, the fiber lining of a heating furnace should have a service life of at least 5 years to be economically viable; if it is less than 5 years, the cost associated with its amortization, as well as equipment depreciation and major repair costs, will be quite high. If that is the case, it would be better to adopt a structure that combines lightweight casting materials with fibers, as this can reduce costs while still meeting usage and energy-saving requirements.
In the structure of high-temperature resistant fiber module linings containing zirconium, along with high-temperature radiation coatings, such phenomena do not seem to occur in hydrogen production conversion furnaces.
A few years ago, fiber spraying was very popular; after being used for some time, various problems have emerged, including powdering and collapse to varying degrees.
"The “fuzzing” phenomenon is caused by excessive crystallization of the material. When using this material, it is necessary to strictly control the operating temperature; under normal conditions of use, it can last for about ten years!
