Let’s discuss the standards for metric, American, and British threads. I always get them mixed up; let’s talk about it to reinforce my understanding. Which standard is generally used in what types of equipment?
The person in charge of the equipment is more familiar with this; I only know how to determine it on the flanges. When we do the design, the project leader decides, based on the specifics of the project, which standard system will be used, and that way it’s determined what standards will apply to the entire project. There is no fixed standard for which equipment to use; it is determined based on the specifics of each project. Domestic manufacturers follow national standards, while for imported equipment or projects based abroad, if the client has specific requirements, imperial or American standards are used. It’s all determined based on the project. For devices with the same function, the standards for bolts used may vary depending on the circumstances. For a project or a device, the standards used should be consistent to ensure compatibility.
