The rapid development of the Chinese economy has led to a huge demand for on-site testing instruments. At the end of 2004, SIEMENS’ manufacturing division for testing instruments opened in Shanghai; by then, major testing instrument manufacturers from countries such as the United States, Europe, and Japan had all established their own businesses in China. Domestic and foreign instrument manufacturers **show the following characteristics: (1) a wide range of investors, with participants coming from large, medium, and small enterprises in the United States, Europe, and Japan** ; (2) Diversity of product types, with products covering various types of instruments for temperature, flow rate, pressure, level measurement, and composition analysis ; (3) Comparison at the product technology level: there are both traditional technologies such as disk pressure gauges and rotameters, as well as more advanced ones like intelligent differential pressure transmitters and electromagnetic flowmeters. The entry of these enterprises has led to a prosperous development in China’s testing instrument manufacturing industry. Domestic enterprises are also thriving; the domestic instrumentation market is becoming more segmented. In addition to markets for instruments of different technical levels, related markets that supply components for these instruments are also developing rapidly, and the small but comprehensive business model is changing. Professional manufacturers are available for everything from sensors (such as various pressure and temperature sensors), intelligent circuit components (such as various HART-based instrument circuit boards) and connectors, to the metal enclosures of instruments and plastic parts. The OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) model and ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) model are widely adopted. Technical institutions that offer services such as product development, verification, evaluation, consulting, and certification, as well as media organizations that provide information and advertising services, can be found throughout the country. Such an environment **reduces the entry costs for instrument manufacturers, making it suitable for small businesses to operate; this has led to a large number of instrument companies existing today, while also resulting in extremely fierce market competition. Comparing domestic and foreign-funded enterprises: (1) Foreign-funded enterprises have clear advantages in terms of brand, technology, and market operations, while a common issue among domestic enterprises is the general lack of unique technologies and products ; (2) Among foreign-funded enterprises, those that are large in scale and have a wide range of products possess clear advantages over those with specialized product lines ; Among domestic enterprises, those that specialize in a single product are growing faster than larger, diversified enterprises ; (3) In terms of traditional instruments with lower technical complexity, domestic enterprises have a competitive advantage. The comparison results actually reflect that China’s instrumentation market is highly sensitive to the technical level of products. Large foreign-funded companies invest heavily in research and development, and their products are more advanced than those of specialized firms, which is why they are more popular in the domestic market. The products of domestic enterprises are homogeneous in terms of technical level; therefore, the flexibility of specialized enterprises can be better utilized. In fact, there is strong market demand for instruments at various levels in the domestic market; turning traditional instruments into high-quality products will also be well received by the market.
:Handshakes: Some domestic instruments these days are also quite good, haha
