Reposted from http://www.ynxxb.com/cindex/show.aspx?id=50048 Recently, Yunnan Coal Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., the Shanxi Institute of Coal Chemistry under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Second Chemical Industry Design Institute jointly announced that the largest coal-to-oil pilot plant in operation in China at present – the 3,500-ton/year industrial demonstration plant for synthetic gasoline – has been successfully commissioned by Yunnan Coal Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. On December 11 of this year, the plant was successfully commissioned at Jiehua Company, producing qualified 93# gasoline. At present, the plant is operating normally and meets the design requirements.

If it is truly the MTG process, referring to the situation in New Zealand, an octane rating of 93# for gasoline should be quite marginal; of course, oxygenates can be used to increase the octane rating. Another issue is that the aromatic content may be relatively high. Properties of MTG gasoline in New Zealand: Average range for density / kg/m3 (15°C): 730; 728–733. Reid vapor pressure: 0.86; 0.83–0.91. Research octane number (RON): 92.2; 92.0–92.5. Motor octane number (MON): 82.6; 82.2–83.0. Content of p-toluenes / wt%: 2.0; 1.74–2.29. Aromatic content of MTG gasoline at 643K: Benzene – 4.1%; Toluene – 25.6%; Ethylbenzene – 1.9%; o-Xylenes – 9.0%; m-Xylenes – 22.8%; p-Xylenes – 10.0%; 1,2,3-Trimethylbenzene – 0.9%; 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene – 11.1%; 1,3,5-Trimethylbenzene – 2.1%; m-Ethylbenzene – 0.7%; o+p-Ethylbenzene – 4.1%; Isopropylbenzene – 0.2%; 1,2,3,4-Tetramethylbenzene – 0.4%; 1,2,3,5-Tetramethylbenzene – 1.9%; 1,2,4,5-Tetramethylbenzene – 2.0%; Other C10 aromatics – 2.7; C11+ aromatics – 0.4.
