For a heat exchanger with butanol solution in the shell side and water in the tube side, what type of gasket would be suitable?
If it is a regular fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger, this gasket should be suitable for the tube side; there is no need to consider butanol solution. Since the tube side contains water, an asbestos rubber gasket will suffice. However, as that brother said yesterday, asbestos gaskets are harmful to health; it is better to use PTFE or graphite wound gaskets, etc.
