When our lockhopper has finished discharging slag and the slag discharge valve is closed, there is a very loud banging sound coming from the wash water valve and its pipelines; I’m not sure what the cause is. This post was last edited by Langtaosha on 2008-3-14 at 11:05
Is it related to the speed at which the slag discharge valve is opened and closed? You can try adjusting the rate
It is estimated that the impact on the equipment and pipes was caused by the flushing water from the lock hopper washing the lock hopper
Based on experience with boiler hydraulics, it is likely that the valve was closed too quickly, causing a sudden change in the water flow rate inside the pipes and resulting in a \"water hammer\" phenomenon. Searching online should allow you to find descriptions of many types of \"water hammer\".

It’s definitely the \"piston hammer\" phenomenon; the solution is to be more careful during operation and move more slowly! ! !
The poster should check the pipeline from the flushing water tank to the flushing water valve; a spring joint should be installed there. It’s likely that loose bolts are causing the noise that occurs each time the valve closes after slag removal. :lol
Is it possible that the noise is caused by resonance? Eliminating the source of that resonance will solve the problem. Resonance can sometimes be highly destructive
Is that sound the noise of flow interruption caused by the rapid closing of the flush valve? ? ? ? ? If you don’t believe it, you can give it a try; remember to use a ball valve?
This phenomenon is very common in Texaco systems; it is mainly caused by water hammer. The only solution is to reinforce the pipelines. As for any good methods, I hope everyone will actively discuss them
