The prospects for the alumina market are good at present, with projects for alumina production being launched in various places. Let’s discuss the production processes for alumina. I am currently working on a preparation system for flocculants used in alumina. Those who have relevant information or experience are welcome to offer guidance.
During my interactions with clients, I learned that alumina production involves 4 distinct processes: 1. roasting, 2. evaporation, 3. sedimentation, and 4. leaching. The process on the 3rd floor is the Bayer process, which is used in the alkaline method for alumina production; it is suitable for bauxite with an aluminum-to-silicon ratio greater than 7. If the ore grade is low, the sintering method can be employed, or the hybrid method developed in China – a method that is particularly suitable for China’s bauxite. Bauxite in our country is gibbsite, while in Australia it is mainly boehmite, and in the United States it is primarily diaspore. Bauxite in our country is particularly insoluble, with an aluminum-to-silicon ratio ranging from 5 to 13. The flocculant preparation system is used for the separation and washing of red mud in the sedimentation workshop; by adding flocculants, the settlement of red mud is accelerated. Red mud is a waste product resulting from aluminum oxide production, it causes significant pollution, and there are no effective methods for dealing with it. The flocculant preparation system involves diluting liquid flocculants to produce the finished product, which is then used in red mud sedimentation, or dissolving powdered flocculants and preparing the finished product for use in the sedimentation system. It generally consists of a liquid flocculant storage tank, a powdered flocculant storage tank, a dilution tank, a mixing tank, and a flocculant preparation system.
