Three main issues need to be considered in the design of the circulation tank: first, the height difference between the tank and the tower, which must ensure that there is a sufficient liquid level difference within the tower to allow the acid to flow naturally into the tank; Second is the volume – it must meet the requirements of the acid circulation process, and it is also necessary to ensure that it can hold the amount of acid present in the tower in case of a sudden power outage, so as to prevent any acid from leaking out. Third, the lining must have high corrosion resistance to cope with sudden changes in acid concentration and temperature. As for height, generally, 2/3 of the height of the circulation tank should be used to store acid, thereby ensuring the stable operation of the acid circulation pump ; 1/3 of the height is left empty to accommodate the acid stored in the tower and the acid pipelines above it when the pump is shut down. The total height depends on the elevation of the tower and the method of acid circulation, and is generally between 2.5 and 3.5 meters. 2. Volume: The volume of the circulation tank; based on experience, it is generally set at 20%-30% of the hourly circulation volume. 3. Lining: Acid-resistant tiles inside the steel casing of the circulation tank.

Consider the height between the acid pump outlet and the bottom (typically 500–800 mm for vertical pumps), the acid holding capacity of the upper and lower acid pipes, the acid holding capacity at the bottom of the tower, and the acid holding capacity of the tower packing.
