Oil sludge has accumulated at the bottom of the oil storage tank, resulting in a decline in the quality of the oil. How can it be cleaned, and what are the precautions to take?
Steps for manual cleaning of storage tanks (taking dome tanks as an example): 1. Drain the oil at the bottom of the tank (first use the pump in the tank system, or later use a temporary pump with an explosion-proof motor or water to drain the oil). 2. Isolate the storage tank by installing blind flanges. 3. Remove the manhole on the tank wall and the light opening on the tank top. 4. Add a small amount of water to the tank and steam it to cook it. 5. An explosion-proof blower is installed at the manhole for forced ventilation and air replacement. 6. Conduct gas analysis inside the tank, mainly focusing on oxygen content and combustible gas concentration. 7. After the analysis confirms compliance, organize those who have passed the medical examination to carry out manual cleaning inside the tank. 8. Personnel entering the tank must wear appropriate protective equipment; they should not stay inside the tank for too long, and there must be someone outside to supervise them. 9. I would like to add a few points: after entering the tank, it can be cleaned using high-pressure fire water, or with explosion-proof copper shovels to collect the copper and pack it in bags, or a combination of both methods can be used.
Another method is mechanical tank cleaning; it’s simple and easy to implement, requires low costs, and the key advantage is that it is environmentally friendly, resulting in zero pollution.
