Is it better to install a pressure gauge in front of or behind the burst disc? When it is placed at the front, there are pressure data available; however, if there is a problem with the burst disk, it’s not clear. When it is placed at the back, the data is usually zero, so it’s not possible to determine the pressure. But if there is a problem with the burst disk, can it be detected quickly? Based on your experience, which method do you all think is better?
It depends on the process requirements. Generally, if it is necessary to know the pressure in the pipes or equipment, a pressure gauge should obviously be installed upstream of the burst disc. However, in order to monitor the condition of the burst disc, a pressure gauge is also often placed between the burst disc and the safety valve. These two devices are not contradictory, as their purposes are different. In many cases, both types of pressure gauges are used in our installations
All is well ahead; 1. From a process operation perspective, the pressure can be monitored, which facilitates operation. 2. From a safety perspective, it is safe for people.
Process and safety considerations are the primary factors; as a pressure indicator, it must be installed in front of the burst disk. If there are other safety requirements, a memory-type pressure gauge can also be installed behind the burst disk to indicate the critical value at which the burst disk will activate. If it is only necessary to monitor the condition of the burst disc, a differential pressure gauge is the best choice; if there is a problem with the burst disc, the pressure difference will disappear.
Blowout membrane: May I ask where the blowout membrane is located? Is it on the instrument? I’m not sure since this is my first time dealing with this. Please give me some guidance
A burst disk, also known as a rupture disc, is a specially treated metal sheet that can break at a specified pressure; together with a safety valve, it helps to prevent equipment from experiencing overpressure. It is generally installed between the equipment itself and the safety valve, with the set rupture pressure being slightly lower than the activation pressure of the safety valve. It can serve to isolate the safety valve from the substances inside the equipment, and is primarily used to protect the valve element from dust, slurry, and other materials that may be present within the equipment.
Pressure vessels generally need to be equipped with pressure gauges, but pressure gauges should also be installed between the safety valve and the burst disc to detect whether the burst disc has ruptured. I have a question: is the relief valve next to the burst disc normally open or normally closed? I don’t understand; please advise. Thank you!

It's good to install it in front of the blast membrane... there's a pressure indicator...
