Hello everyone: lol I will graduate next year and I want to work in the field of desalination equipment manufacturing and process design. I plan to start with thermal methods, and eventually may move on to membrane-based approaches. I’d like to hear everyone’s opinions on working in this area. This is my first time posting a topic, so please share your valuable suggestions~~
Seawater desalination is currently a popular field; generally, mature process packages need to be purchased, so what is required is to transform those process packages into engineering designs. It’s not very difficult, and many devices are provided by patent holders.
The necessary technical skills are already in place; the key is to find a good employer where one can gain valuable engineering experience!
No matter what job you do, always remember to go to the site in person and understand the problems that arise during users’ use of the products. Many designs these days cause drawbacks in actual use

Companies that engage in seawater desalination usually handle other types of environmental protection projects as well. If one only wants to work in this area, it’s better to go to a research institute, haha
The market potential for seawater desalination is quite large, but it is still in its infancy in China at present. I am currently working on the design of thermal seawater desalination systems, and it feels like a waste of time. If **attention is given, then I think the wait for an oil spill won’t be long! ! !
All water used for new projects in the Cangzhou Port Development Zone in Hebei Province is sourced from desalinated seawater.
