With the increasing demands on energy utilization, new ammonia synthesis projects and expansions are no longer approved; intermittent gas furnaces that use air as a vaporizing agent are also not permitted to be installed. Does any expert have a plan for upgrading such furnaces using oxygen-enriched gas?
Oxygen-enriched continuous gasification process: After being crushed and screened, the raw coal is conveyed by belt conveyors to the coke bin at the top of the gas generator, where it is added periodically and continuously to the fixed-bed gas generator through a feeding hopper via an automatic coke feeder. Steam and oxygen-enriched air are continuously fed into the furnace; coal and oxygen-enriched air undergo incomplete combustion, generating a large amount of heat which raises the temperature. This allows the steam to decompose within the hot carbon, producing semi-water gas. The air from the air blower, along with over 99% oxygen from the air separation system, enters the mixing tank where they are combined to form oxygen-enriched air with a concentration of around 50–55%. This oxygen-enriched air is then mixed again with steam coming from the steam superheater, and together they enter the bottom of the gas generator. The temperature of this mixture is between 110–140°C. The oxygen-enriched air and steam react with the carbon present in the furnace to produce semi-water gas, which exits through the top of the furnace and enters the waste heat boiler. The semi-water gas has a temperature of around 700°C
