When conducting experiments on principles of chemical engineering, why does the flow rate of the pump decrease to half of its original value?
Check whether it is the pump speed that has changed or the pipeline characteristic curve that has changed. Or it may be because the pump is not operating at its operating point.

Nothing has changed; it’s just that during the second experiment, the gauge reading reached only half of the original value. We use plain water, so it shouldn’t get clogged.
What kind of pump are you using? Was all the medium inside the pump drained after the previous shutdown? Because some centrifugal pumps have a rather strange problem: they work fine when turned on initially, but after being shut down and turned on again, both the flow rate and pressure fail to reach the specified values. This is mainly caused by air in the pump chamber, although normal operation is restored after several successive starts and stops.
