Pressure gauge at pump inlet

If the suction end of the pump is in the water, wouldn't the pressure become negative after starting the pump? Then doesn't the pressure gauge at the pump inlet need to be equipped with a vacuum gauge? By extension, do all pump inlets need to be equipped with vacuum gauges?
If the pump inlet pressure is not very high, generally no pressure gauge is installed at the pump inlet.
The inlet of the vacuum pump is negative pressure. If a pressure gauge is installed, a vacuum gauge should be installed. The inlet of other general centrifugal pumps is positive pressure and cannot be equipped with a vacuum gauge. Generally, the inlet of a centrifugal pump is not equipped with a pressure gauge.
It depends on what kind of pump it is before we can discuss it. For centrifugal pumps, the inlet may be positive pressure or negative pressure, so the pressure gauge should be set with positive and negative ranges. For gear pumps, the inlet is positive pressure and a positive-range pressure gauge is sufficient.
There are six gear pump inlets with negative pressure (calculated) in our workshop, but there are no pressure gauges installed at the inlets.
