I’m curious about what the thermal balance is like in a Texaco quenching and vaporization furnace; I would appreciate it if you could share your insights.
Regarding gas-heat balance, you can look for the Synthetic Gas Process Technology Manual; it contains that information!
Under normal circumstances, the steam exiting the gasification furnace is saturated, with a temperature corresponding to the saturation temperature at that steam pressure. The high-temperature gas that enters the quenching chamber from the combustion chamber of the gasification furnace loses heat upon cooling, which converts water into steam. Energy conservation holds true in the quenching chamber; some of the heat loss is determined based on engineering experience. The material and energy balances for the gas exiting the combustion chamber of the gasification furnace are calculated based on an analysis of the coal fed into the furnace and the amount of oxygen used, taking into account certain amounts of heat loss
