Either of these two methods works; it is recommended to use method 1).
This is because using such a special card with the PLC increases the cost. Moreover, it’s better to transmit over long distances using standard signals; the wires of thermocouples are very troublesome!
To reduce the variety of cards required for this issue, it is better to use analog input; however, this increases the power consumption. Thermocouple cards require more different types than analog cards, but they offer better resistance to interference.
One method is good: it’s inexpensive, and the signal transmission over long distances is stable
Personally, I think the former is better – it’s standardized!
I also think one method is good – it saves money, haha
