I work in the recycling workshop at a coking plant. Yesterday, one of the gas-operated valve switches in my workshop closed on its own, resulting in significant gas leakage. The on and off buttons are interlocked through the normally open and normally closed contacts of the contactor control coil. Based on what you’ve described, it seems that there is a problem with the off button (it may not reset properly, causing it to stay in the on position). When the button is pressed to turn on the device, the normally closed contact of the contactor control coil breaks, thereby cutting off the circuit that controls the off function. However, once the button is fully pressed, the limit switch comes into action, cutting off the circuit that allows the valve to open; at the same time, the contactor contacts return to their normal closed state, and the motor stops rotating. After the off contact of the AC contactor coil returns to its closed state, if the off button is still in the on position, the off circuit will be activated, resulting in automatic shutdown.
Personally, I think it’s not due to mechanical reasons; it’s most likely an electrical issue. Could it be caused by humidity leading to a short circuit? The actuation mechanism of the electric gate valve should not be able to close under the effect of gravity. It would be best to have someone with electrical expertise take a closer look; if that doesn’t work, then the electrical control system needs to be replaced.

It must be a problem related to the electrical system. For important gas-powered gate valves, it is normal for them to lose power during normal operation; it makes more sense for them to close while still powered on. By checking the electrical aspects, one can figure out what’s going on.
If the electrician determines that the cause cannot be identified, and a self-protection system has been installed, have the instruments checked
Is it an electrically closed valve or an electrically open valve? Did it suddenly receive power again for some electrical reason, when it should have been powered off? Or the opposite?
Thank you all. After two days of investigation, it was found that the cable’s outer coating was damaged during installation; over time, and especially at night when humidity is high, this led to a short circuit, which caused the problem. . . .

It’s due to electrical control issues; we’ve encountered similar situations here as well, and it’s probably caused by a loss of power to the solenoid valve.
Could it be that the pipeline is vibrating, causing the valve core to fall out?
