1. Solvent deasphalting is a pretreatment method for catalytic feedstock oil. Its products mainly include deasphalted oil (DAO) and asphalt. The processes involved include the ROSE method, DEMEX method, SOLVAHL method, etc., as well as the use of heavier solvents such as butane and pentane, and the adoption of supercritical solvents for recovery instead of traditional evaporation-based solvents. 2. Hydrogenation pretreatment. Distillate fractions, atmospheric residue, vacuum residue, solvent-deasphalted oil, coker distillates, coal tar, and catalytic cracking recycle oil can all be subjected to hydrogenation or hydrodesulfurization (HDS) as appropriate.
Butane solvent deasphalting can address the issue of high heavy metal content, but it presents problems regarding the handling of the asphalt residue. The hydrogenation method can address the issue of high sulfur content, partially saturate unsaturated hydrocarbons and reduce heavy metal levels, thereby improving the properties of the raw materials, but it requires high investment.
When sulfur content is low and investment is limited, it is recommended to use butane solvent deasphalting
