In Aspen Plus, within the Data Browser and in the flowsheet options directory, there is a design sep option; the radfrac model also has a design sep option. I would like to ask what the differences between these two tools are? Which design sep should be used when using the radfrac model? Thank you first. In the flowsheet options directory, design sep specifies settings on a global level, while in the radfrac model, design sep applies only to columns.
When using radfrac, the design under radfrac should be used. The flowsheet is filled in to ensure that certain operational criteria are met throughout the entire process, while radfrac refers to the criteria specific to that tower
The internal design specifications for RadFrac are aligned with those of the column; as a result, they generally converge much more quickly than the design specifications at the flowsheet level
The design spec in the flowsheet options directory defines the settings for the entire process. As mentioned in previous replies, it applies on a global scale; for example, it determines what the results will be when the operating parameters of a certain device are adjusted. Generally, the two variables associated here are not the operating parameters of the same device. Many devices in ASPEN come with design spec settings, which are used to adjust the operating parameters of those devices in order to achieve certain objectives.
