At the beginning of the new century, many **formulated plans for sustainable development in accordance with the United Nations’ requirements, and energy conservation was the most important element of these plans. Based on some ** experiences, to build an energy-saving society, it is first necessary to help people adopt a new outlook on life, so that energy conservation becomes part of their daily habits and turns into a way of life. As early as the 1960s, countries such as the Netherlands and Sweden, which were at the forefront in energy utilization and environmental protection, **began to promote energy education, encouraging people to come up with ideas for saving energy and helping them develop good living *habits. For example, a booklet states that when seeing one’s parents going shopping, don’t forget to suggest that they bring their own bags and try to avoid using the paper or plastic bags provided by the store. Because a \"15-year-old\" tree can only produce about 700 paper bags, while manufacturing plastic bags consumes non-renewable energy. If there are too many plastic bags, they still need to be thrown away, which affects the environment. It is important to teach children from an early age how to save energy and to develop the habit of turning off lights when leaving a room. Residents should try to use their own bags when going shopping. These may seem like trivial matters in daily life, but they are actually related to major issues of sustainable development.
